Owl Box Tutorial

Well here goes, my first ever tutorial.
This is to make a cute owl box using dies and punches.

1) Cut/punch out all the pieces below

Cut a piece of chocolate chip cardstock - 5 1/8" by 6 1/8". Along long side score at: 1 1/8" and 5"and along short side score at 2" and 3 1/8"
Chocolate chip cardstock - Die cut 2 shapes using the largest of the labels collection framelits, only cut part of the shape out, as shown above.
Chocolate chip cardstock - 12 x 2cm strips. Cut out 5.

Whisper white cardstock - 1 1/4" circle x 2
Whisper white cardstock - punch tiny circles from the owl punch x 2
Black cardstock - punch circles using the circle punch from the itty bitty punch pack x2
Chocolate chip cardstock - punch out 'wings' using the large oval punch x 2
Glitter paper - punch out heart using heart punch
Pumpkin pie cardstock - cut out triangle by hand
30cm piece of ribbon (I used SU ribbon from the 2013 SAB).

Using the scallop border punch, punch out a scallop edge along the five strips of card.
Using the circle punch from the itty bitty punch pack punch a hole in the top of both die cut shapes (punch both out at the same time, to ensure they line up)

2) Assemble box using red sticky tape

3) Curl up the scallop edges of the strips and add some ink to the edges in chocolate chip
Using glue along the straight edge of the strip and attach the first one to the box so the 'feathers' curl outwards away from the box and so the scallops reach the edge of the box, but do not overhang.

4) Attach the next three strips overlapping each one slightly.

5) Trim the stips so they follow the shape of the die cut.
Add the oval shapes to make the owl's wings.

5) Add the final strip and trim if necessary. Add the eyes, beak and heart. Only adding glue to the top edges of the heart and beak.

6) Attach the die cut shapes to the sides of the box using sticky red tape and attach the ribbon through the punched holes.

I hope you like the tutorial and have a go yourselves.
If anyone does follow this tutorial and and posts there creations on their blog can you please link back to this page.
I'd love to hear your comments.

Carterton Craft Class Makes

Happy mothers day to all you Mummys/Mums out there, I hope you are getting spolit. Todays post is to show you this makes from my latest craft class including my Mums mothers day card.

This is the mothers day card that we made and I hope got to my Mum on time! It's using the free SAB papers and SAB ribbon. I just had to use my favorite punch, the owl builder on this card. We used some scallop circle, modern label and word window punches, the background was spritzed with soft suede ink with some soft suede doodling around the edge with a write marker.

The second card is one I showed you yesterday using the blast off stamp set.

The third card is using the Bug me stamp set (£11.95 clear, £14.95 wood). I love this set, it worked so well with this type of card. Although you don't need a square punch, using the 1 1/4 SU square punch made this card so much quicker to make.

The final item is this 3D owl box. I'm so proud of this design, I saw something similar, but changed it a bit and adapted it to the die and punches that I had. I will post a tutorial on my blog of this in a frew days time. It'll be my first ever tutorial, so may take a while to write up!

I hope you like the projects, I'm now taking bookings for the next craft class on the 4th April, please get in touch to book a place.

Blast off...

Today I have some cards to show you as well, these are both made using the blast off stamp set, just £20.95 for the clear version which is a set of 10 stamps.

I've used lots of different stamps and mounted them onto a tempting turquioise card and then a white card base. The glitter paper is what you can get free with a qualifying SU party untill the 22nd March or is avalible for £4.50 for two 12 by 12 sheets.

Here's the two cards I made:

This second one, we made this at my craft class in Carterton this week.

I hope you like them. Would love to read any comments.
